While Larry Drebes founded Janrain in 2002, it has been the collaborative effort of the Janrain team to get us to where we are today. Our dedication, tenacity and methodical nature is what pulls us through the social trenches offering you nothing but the best in Customer Identity Management.
As CEO, Jim leads the company’s vision, strategy and worldwide operations. He is a seasoned entrepreneur with more than 31 years of experience in complex enterprise technology, including 10 years as a startup CEO leading companies from their founding to acquisition. He has built multiple technology businesses in cloud computing, enterprise software, software as a service (SaaS), online and mobile digital media, online and mobile advertising, and semiconductors. Prior to Janrain, Jim was the Vice President and General Manager of Digital Applications at Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), where he led the formation of its largest line of commercial business. Jim also led the fastest growing business at CSC, Big Data & Analytics. Before CSC, Jim held executive positions at Infochimps, PARC (a Xerox company) and SIOS Technology. Jim began his career in data and analytics at Teradata. Jim holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from University of California, Santa Barbara, as well as a Master of Business Administration from the University of San Diego.
Larry founded Janrain in 2002 to address the challenge of managing user identity on the Internet. Prior to Janrain, Larry was a co-founder of Silicon Valley startups Desktop.com, a web-based service, and Four11 Corporation. At Four11 Corporation, Larry led the development of its RocketMail product, one of the first Internet-based email systems. Four11 was acquired by Yahoo in 1997; and its RocketMail product became Yahoo! Mail. Earlier in his career, Larry did software development for Raynet, McDonnell Douglas and A.G. Edwards.
Martin joined Janrain in June 2015 and brings over 20 years of finance and operations leadership for high growth companies. Prior to joining Janrain, Martin was General Manager at MotoSport.com and implemented strategic, marketing, and operational changes to increase growth and profitability. Prior to becoming GM, Martin held the CFO role at MotoSport and closed several venture capital funding rounds while tripling revenue. Martin also held finance and operations leadership positions for both public and private organizations, including Digimarc, Ascension Software, CSI Digital, and Spinriot. Martin started his career with Ernst & Young in Silicon Valley and holds both a Bachelor of Science and MACC from Brigham Young University.
Lewis manages Janrain’s legal compliance and privacy functions as the company continues its international expansion. He brings more than 15 years of leadership in a wide range of legal and privacy-related matters for growing technology companies. Lewis also utilizes his diverse background as a litigator in private practice, federal appeals court staff attorney, and teacher. Prior to Janrain, Lewis was General Counsel and Secretary of Fios, Inc. and before that, he was General Counsel of New Edge Networks (now EarthLink Business). Lewis holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Missouri School of Law and a Bachelor’s Degree from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. He is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US).
As Vice President of Alliances, David leads the company’s strategy and execution of its global alliances operations. He is a seasoned entrepreneur with more than 30 years experience in startup, early stage and Fortune 100 complex enterprise software and technology companies. He has held executive leadership roles in direct, business development and strategic alliances operations for enterprise software, software-as-a-service and open source companies. Prior to Janrain, David led Complex Deals for the Americas at Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), as well as the fastest growing business at CSC, Big Data and Analytics for the Banking and Capital Markets. Prior to CSC, David held executive leadership roles at Compass Rose Ventures, Akaibu and Verisign. David began his career in all things data at IBM. David holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Illinois, Chicago.
Carol joined Janrain in March, 2013, bringing over 25 years of HR experience. Carol leads Janrain’s HR, facility and administrative functions. Prior to joining the team, Carol was the Senior Director of HR at Yottamark, a Bay Area based startup that provides traceability and authentication solutions. Carol has spent most of her career in HR Leadership positions supporting technology organizations at Digimarc, Serena Software and ADP.
Jamie Beckland is a seasoned technology executive who built his first social media community in 2004 and has spent the last decade delivering solutions for high-profile global clients like Coca Cola, McDonald’s, Samsung, Wells Fargo, Whole Foods and more. Prior to Janrain, Jamie led the emerging media practice at White Horse, and has worked in Product, Marketing, Customer Success and Strategic Services. Jamie also serves as a board member and advisor to several early-stage and mature technology companies, including Valor Analytics and Validic. Jamie frequently speaks about technology trends and digital marketing at high-level events such as CES and SXSW. He’s also a contributing columnist for Mashable, BrandChannel.com, Social Media Today, AdAge, Entrepreneur and other publications.
Tom joined Janrain in February 2012 and brings over 20 years of sales leadership for high growth companies. Prior to joining Janrain, Tom was VP of Worldwide Sales at Conversive, overseeing revenue growth and its subsequent acquisition by Avaya. He has held several sales leadership roles at leading companies including Litescape, Nuance, Lucent Technologies and Avaya. Tom started his career in sales with AT&T. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Pennsylvania State University.
Marlene leads Janrain’s customer success and service teams. She is a seasoned executive with over 15 years of SaaS experience. Prior to Janrain, Marlene built customer service teams at three separate companies: SVP of professional services and customer success at Conga, VP of professional services at Apttus, and VP of professional services and customer success at Determine, Inc. Marlene started her career in the oil industry and spent five years as a consultant. She holds an Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
Prior to joining Janrain in 2014, Rahul was the CEO and Co-Founder of Arktan, where he drove product innovation and managed all aspects of the company. He steered Arktan’s rise from a young start-up to a pioneering provider of industry-leading user engagement products, culminating in the strategic acquisition of Arktan by Janrain. Prior to Arktan, Rahul was a Distinguished Engineer at Juniper Networks, where he drove innovation in Internet routing, mobile, VPN, and data center-related technologies and standards across the industry. Rahul is the author of over 25 Internet Standards, published as drafts and RFCs, holds over 40 patents; and is a frequent speaker at industry events.He received his Bachelor of Engineering, from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, and his Master of Science from the University of Minnesota.
Mayur joined Janrain in April 2013. Prior to Janrain, Mayur was General Manager at Glow Labs, a spinoff of the innovation media agency Magic Lantern Productions, where Mayur was Chief Architect. Over this 13 year agency tenure, Mayur advised clients like Channel4, BBC, Guardian, United Nations and Nigella Lawson on technology and marketing. Mayur holds a BSC Honors from Staffordshire University in Business Information Technology.
As Janrain’s VP of Engineering, Darryl is responsible for all aspects of DevOps, software development and testing. With over 20 years of experience, Darryl was previously the VP of IT at Vesta Corporation, responsible for global IT operations across five data centers, corporate information systems and information security. He was also credited for building the software QA and project management teams from the ground up, while creating a modern, risk-tolerant organization focused on software-as-a-service (SaaS). Darryl is a veteran of four startups: Preside, Oresis, Q-Optics/Elematics and Polyserve. Darryl graduated from the Royal Military College of Canada with a Bachelor of Computer Engineering.
