Relying Party Stats as of April 1st, 2009 April 10, 2009 by Michael Olson The number of websites that accept OpenID continued to climb throughout March. Now, a shade over 40,000 sites accept OpenID logins. It’s remarkable to see how quickly user-centric identity technologies have gained adoption when, as recently as two years ago, less than 5,000 websites were OpenID-enabled. Announcements like the one we made last week (with Microsoft’s Windows Live ID added as an identity provider for RPX) only help fuel adoption of OpenID and third party authentication, as website operators begin to take notice of the nearly 1.5 billion accounts that are enabled for OpenID login. For a directory of some sites that are OpenID-enabled, please visit the myOpenID Site Directory, or the OpenID Directory.
