Janrain is now HIPAA and HITECH compliant

Today, we are happy to announce that Janrain has been deemed compliant for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Security Rule and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH) by successfully passing an assessment performed by A-LIGN, an independent auditing firm. HIPAA established important national standards for the privacy and security of protected health information and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH) established breach notification requirements to provide greater transparency for individuals whose information may be at risk.HIPAA and HITECH define policies, procedures and processes required for organizations that store, process or handle electronic protected health information (PHI), such as healthcare or pharmaceutical companies.

“Janrain partnered with A-LIGN to validate the administrative, physical and technical safeguards we have implemented to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and security of PHI we may host for some clients,” said Janrain General Counsel and VP of Privacy, Lewis Barr. “This assessment is another marker along the path we have followed to build trust with our clients and among the chief reasons why so many global brands trust Janrain.”

As we are committed to maintaining the highest level of security and privacy controls while operating with the highest level of transparency to our customers, it made sense for us to obtain this HIPAA and HITECH attestation.
