Today is a great day! And I’m fortunate enough to have a lot of great days. I get to work with a bunch of super smart people who together as a team built a successful company and are passionately dedicated to the space we created, Customer Identity Management. Every day, the largest brands in the world trust us to deliver this critical service, providing secure stewardship of their data. And through these great clients, every hour of every day, millions of end users have experiences we help influence.
In the last year in particular we’ve experienced notable growth and expansion, and in December 2015 those efforts resulted in closing our Series D funding round, led by HighBar Partners. With this latest round of funding, we are poised to bring more talent and partnerships into Janrain. In addition, we are able to move forward with a long-time goal of mine – for me to focus more intensely on my role as CTO. To do this, we needed to identify an experienced and well respected industry veteran who will help scale Janrain to its maximum potential.
Today, I’m pleased to announce that Jim Kaskade has joined our Janrain family as our new CEO!
A little about Jim … he is a seasoned entrepreneur with more than 31 years of experience in complex enterprise technology, including 10 years as a startup CEO leading companies from their founding to acquisition. Prior to Janrain, Jim was the VP and GM of Digital Applications at Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), where he led the formation of its largest line of commercial business. Before CSC, Jim held executive positions at Infochimps, PARC (a Xerox company) and SIOS Technology. He began his career in data and analytics at Teradata.
In other words, Jim is well-equipped to lead the Janrain team in the next chapter of our growth. But beyond his credentials, Jim is a people person. He cares about our clients and he cares about our company’s culture and the people who make up the fabric of Janrain. Ask him about employee engagement and he’ll say “their success is the company’s success and, thus my success.” He also recognizes the incredible opportunities that exist for Janrain in the Customer Identity Management space, firmly believing that “your identity is the most important thing you own.”
In the coming weeks, you’ll be hearing more from Jim and me about our vision for the company and how we will continue to help our clients better know their customers. Jim will also share his early observations on the opportunities ahead and his own unique leadership approach. Did I mention he likes big wave surfing and offsites that involve zip lining?
It will definitely be an exciting time for all of us!
