Identity Q&A

How does SSO work?

Single sign-on enables users to access multiple websites and applications with a single set of credentials. SSO protocols work by allowing a single authentication process to be used across multiple systems within a single organization or across multiple organizations. The authentication process may leverage external Identity Providers (IdPs), an internal Directory Service (AD or LDAP) or another authentication mechanism (FIDO UAF). Applications trust the SSO service, so that credentials don’t need to be re-entered for each application.
